Susan Bailey currently serves as VP & Senior Lending Officer at our office in Rainbow City, AL. Susan has banking experience spanning 49 years in Alabama, Colorado and North Carolina. A Rainbow City native, Susan grew up in Etowah County and attended Gadsden High School. She then attended Jacksonville State University pursuing a degree in nursing. After attending JSU, she moved to Colorado where she decided she wanted to pursue a career in banking stating, “It was the best decision in my career.” Susan began her banking career at Summit County Bank in Frisco, Colorado. Susan credits her knowledge in lending and underwriting to her time in Colorado. In 1987, Susan and her husband Bruce made the move to Durham, North Carolina where she served as Assistant Treasurer and Collection Supervisor for 3 years. During her time there she was able to learn and grow her expertise in both credit card services and collections. In 1991, her family returned to Colorado where she was named a Loan Officer and Assistant Vice President. Wanting to return home to raise her family, Susan moved back to Gadsden in 1994 where she has worked every since. She joined EXB in 2006 and has worked in personal and commercial lending.
Susan has a strong heart for serving her home and her community. Since 1995, Susan has been on a rotating panel with many of the United Way of Etowah County Agencies. “I love the mission of United Way and I will always have a strong heart for all of the Agencies there.” Susan has also served on the board of Council on Aging where she has served multiple 6 year rotations with the non-profit organization. Currently, she serves as treasurer of her church, Duck Springs Baptist, and Big Wills Water Authority. In addition, Susan has worked with Habitat for Humanity, Junior Achievement in Etowah County Schools and Credit Professionals International
When asked what Susan loves about working for a community bank she had this to say, “I love helping people. I work with a great group that allows me to do this. I love Rainbow City, I grew up here, I went to John Jones Elementary. I have a strong heart for this community and I love getting to help people here that I have known for my whole life. My career has been amazing and I would do it all over again tomorrow.”
